Hello,
where can I find some more technical information regarding the architecture of the eJadSPM system? I am trying to figure out how the system integrates with HMC/MPS and what possible caveats are when deploying in an MPS environment that's already up and running.
Specifically, I am looking for some info on the following topics:
+ General Architecture and interaction with HMC/MPS
+ deployment on existing (production) HMC/MPS
+ SharePoint Provisioning (part of HMC/MPS, no mention of this in eJadSPM)
+ Status of Reseller Portal (in Docs listed as under development)
+ Skinning/visual customization
+ expandability
+ Support for Exchange SP1 features (specifically OWA features)

Thx in advance!
Rgds - Marcus.

eJadSPM System is a SaaS delivery platform and its working with Enterprise service providers such as HMC/MPS is very simple. eJadSPM handles the service plan management, provisioning and management of hosted services and interacts with appropriate providers (such as HMC/MPS) where required. The diagram here http://www.machsol.com/d..._Deployment_Scenario.pdf gives a clear idea about where eJadSPM fits in your HMC/MPS environment.

+ deployment on existing (production) HMC/MPS

Depolyment with existing HMC/MPS is seamless. Your current HMC/MPS infrastructure is not disturbed. If you like to manage existing Exchange mailboxes etc you will have to purchase HMC Migration Toolkit which imports your HMC packages, AD users, mailboxes, distribution lists, etc into eJadSPM. This enables web based hosted email service management for these users.

+ SharePoint Provisioning (part of HMC/MPS, no mention of this in eJadSPM)

SharePoint provisioning via HMC/MPS is currently not supported. We plan to roll out this feature by 1st week of June 2008.

Quote:
+ Status of Reseller Portal (in Docs listed as under development)

Reseller module is expected to become available by end of July, 2008.

+ Skinning/visual customization

Please refer to Customization section in the help manual.

Quote:
+ expandability

We are working to provide API which will allow the community to write their own modules for eJadSPM.

Quote:
+ Support for Exchange SP1 features (specifically OWA features)

Exchange SP1 features are fully supported. Having any issues?

Hi Aziz,

Thank you for your quick reply.
I'm still trying to understand the architecture of eJadSPM. Why is there an import/migration necessary (Plans, Services, Orgs information are all already stored in MPS database)? What is the eJadSPM database used for?
Would I be correct in the assumption that eJadSPM uses the Webservices supplied by MPS to create/manage services, but does not use the MPS database (it's own instead)?
Does this make the MPS Database obsolete? What happens if changes are made using provtest (or other custom made functionality that uses MPS)?

Sorry for all the questions. We have spent the better part of the past 4 months evaluating various Control Panels for HMC and are tying to make a direct comparison between them so that we can make a decision.

Thanks again.
Marcus.

eJadSPM System keeps a disconnected copy of MPS database. This means that when using eJadSPM you are not going to make plans in MPS or edit them directly. You will use eJadSPM System to create MPS service plans or edit them. When you create a MPS service plan in eJadSPM it is automatically created in your MPS database (when plan is sold/assigned to organization).

eJadSPM calls MPS webservices for provisioning tasks. Provisioning includes MPS plan setup, AD use creation, service provisioning, etc. It relies solely on MPS database for resource allocation, usage, etc. When using eJadSPM system you benefit from flexible billing enabled MPS service plan setup, automatic provisioning (via MPS), web based hosted email service management, and automatic service renewal/termination along side value-added services such as BlackBerry, SharePoint, etc from a central control panel.

Changes made through Provtest are OK since behind the scene MPS database is being used and its MPS engine which is deciding about actual resource allocation etc.

Keep your questions coming :)
